Those willing to risk skiing out of bounds at Colorado ski resorts face stepper fines this year as The Colorado Skier Safety Act increases it’s fine from $300 to $1000.

Steamboat gears up for the 2006 / 2007 ski and snowboard season - snow making is underway and the resort has spent over 7 million dollars on mountain upgrades such as the new high speed quad that will sever the Sunshine Bowl area.

Keystones new addition of Independence Bowl increases the ski area to over 3,000 acres marking it the biggest ski resort in Summit County. The new terrain will give expert skiers and snowboarders a run to truly test their skills and ability, the new bowl requires a 20 to 40 minute hike.

Copper Mountain announced the popular ski mountain would open up a week from this friday (November 3) while Wolf Creek prepares for their earliest opening ever this coming Friday (October 27).

If your flying into either Vail, Beaver Creek or the Aspen areas one of the best ways to do that is to fly into the Eagle Airport and take a shuttle to your resort. This option is less expensive than flying into Aspen and is quicker than flying into Denver.

Winter Park is scheduled to open for the 2006 - 2007 ski season on November 15th, a great ski area so close to Denver means quick and easy transfers from the airport, the webcam shown here gives you an idea just how snowy it can get in the winter season at “The Park”.

Monarch ski resort is located west of the Colorado Springs area and is popular among locals who make the journey for the great (100% natural) snow, short lift lines and friendly smiles. Off the beaten path it is not a tourist mountain something locals are happy about. Snow, snow and more snow! Silverton in Colorado has been blessed with lots of early snow and has hopes for an early opening this year. Resort employees have been skiing since September.

Loveland ski area “used” to hold the record for highest mountain top access with their chair number nine, however earlier this year Breckenridge opened a new high speed lift that provides access to the extreme terrain of Imperial bowl.

More snow for Colorado ski resorts as another storm makes it’s over the Aspen area dumping more than 16 inches of heavy wet snow, what a great start to the season. Figure this heavy wet stuff will make for a great “base”.

To kick off this years ski season Keystone is planning a fantastic ski party that will feature live music, a sunrise breakfast and a mini film festival and a 36 hour ski contest with cash prizes. The event will take place over 36 hours starting December 1.
