Fresh Snow In Mammoth & Heavenly (Lake Tahoe)
While the big ski news this week was the opening of A-Basin in Colorado last Friday the folks in the Lake Tahoe are have also been seeing some of the white fluffy stuff. Dana Vander Houwen (spokes person for Mammoth) said the resort had a nice three inch of snow on the ground at the base are of the resort. With more snow expected in the coming days, the Lake Tahoe ski season is off to a great start.
While most people regard Colorado as the ski state the resorts in the Lake Tahoe are average more snow per ski season than the resorts of Colorado (check out this post ). Currently Mammoth ski mountain is scheduled to open it’s 2006 / 2007 ski season on November 9th.
North of Mammoth Heavenly (Lake Tahoe) also just received a nice dumping of champagne powder receiving more than six inches of snow. Heavenly is slated to open Nov. 17 and is a favorite of both skiers and snow boarders alike.
Having lived and skied in Colorado for four years this years ski trip is tentatively planned for either Heavenly or somewhere in Utah, the wife and I are thinking Heavenly might be more our style. Hopefully the snow keeps flying!
