Kirkwood Ski Resort New Upgrades Geared Towards Beginners & Women
Every year the major ski resorts across America compete against each other in hopes of drawing skiers to their mountain, Kirkwood a popular ski destination located in the Lake Tahoe area is no different. This year the resort plans on spending more than three million dollars on mountain and resort ugrades aimed at both beginner skiers and women. These new upgrades include two new tent areas at Timber Creek, one of these new tents will feature ski rentals as well as a new ski school as well as a new area on the Mountain called the “Womens Learn To Ride Center” which will provide a comfortable setting in which adult women can learn to “ride” a snowboard.
Kirkwood says that investing in beginners and women will help draw new skiers to the mountain while maintaining skier days in the future. Crews are currently working at a feverish pace to prepare the new tent areas for the 2006 – 2007ski season. Over the next several years however these tents will be replaced by more permanent structures.
Overall the Kirkwood ski area hopes to entice ski and snowboard travelers with all the amenities of more popular resorts like Heavenly, Mammoth or Vail in the years to come. Other future upgrades include a new chairlift or two, the return of cat skiing as well as more lodging and additional skier amenities.
