Loveland - Denver’s Local Ski Mountain

Loveland is located just over 50 miles from Denver and given it’s proximity to Colorado’s largest city it has developed into the locals ski mountain (along with Winter Park). Loveland enjoys sitting atop the Continental Divide right at the Eisenhower tunnel at I-70. If you have ever driven from Denver into the mountains and driven through the tunnel you have passed under Loveland. Because of it’s high base elevation (above 10,000 feet) it has been the first ski resort to open in Colorado for years and skiers have no problem enjoying plenty of light powder snow during the season.

Local skiers enjoy cheaper ski tickets and shorter lift lines over resorts like Vail, Copper Mountain and Beaver Creek. The mountain is more geared to intermediate or advanced skiers, if your just getting started I would recommend driving through the Eisenhower tunnel past Loveland and on to Keystone which is only another 20 minutes or so (descending for over seven miles on I-70).

Loveland offers a total of 11 lifts, with three high speed quads, two triple chairs, four double chair lifts, one surface lift and one tow rope. The longest run is just over two miles.
