The Growing Popularity Of Utah Ski Areas

While many skiers and snowboarders flock to Colorado in search of deep snow, warm gondolas and untracked runs the popularity of Utah and it’s great resorts has been growing stronger year after year. Utah’s great acclaim is their “home to the greatest snow on earth” and with more than 600 inches falling on Utah for two years in a row it would seam that their is also plenty of it.

Just last month Skiing Magazine ranked four of Utah ski resorts in the top 25 of more than 500 ski resorts in North America. Snowbird & Alta was ranked in the number two position  (both areas can be are connected by a common chair lift and can be skied with the purchase of one ticket) and constantly receives tons of that “great” Utah snow.

Those looking for great dining and amenities can head to Deer Valley which was ranked number one in the poll twice over the last several years. Deer Valley is known for varied terrain, and lots of it as well as some of the best accommodations of any resort in the Utah area. Other top destination resorts include Park City, The Canyons and Solitude.

Snowboarders have enjoyed Park City Resort’s Terrain Park over the years as it has won the best snowboarding terrain park for three years running. I am not sure Utah’s resorts will ever become more popular than some of Colorado’s finest that include Vail, Aspen / Snowmass, Steamboat and Keystone. However for those that have skied these areas often Utah has plenty to offer and something for everyone.
