Wolf Creek & Copper Mountain Ski Areas To Open Soon

About a week and a half ago skiers and snowboarders rejoiced with the news that A-Basin would be the first ski resort to open in the U.S, the very next day Loveland also opened up offering snow lovers two ski area choices in October. This coming Friday Wolf Creek will celebrate it’s earliest opening ever, Wolf Creek averages more snow than any other resort in Colorado and the snow gods have been favorable over the last four weeks.

Opening a week from this Friday is Copper Mountain, one of my personal favorites for the varied terrain, slightly lower prices than that of Vail and a decent vertical drop (just under 3,000 feet). The snow making team at Copper has been cranking out the white stuff now for several weeks and the resort has also been blessed with early season snow.

The start of the season in Colorado is looking very positive, it is still a bit early to get too excited a warm week in November could melt much of the recent snow. However the season is off to a great start, four weeks from now most of the ski areas in Colorado will be open including all of the major resorts like Aspen, Snowmass, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Steamboat and Winter Park. Lets keep our fingers crossed for more great snowy weather in the west
